O resultado de um trabalho inicia-se com um projecto. Hoje em dia fala-se muito em «projectos». «Tenho um projecto, pá! Acho que vai resultar!». À parte do cerimonial de sorrisos e felicitações em que fingimos estar felizes pela pessoa, fica-nos sempre a sensação de que, o que quer que seja o dito «projecto», ficará para sempre retido num limbo de onde nunca sairá completo. Os Romeiros de Paulo Alegria (Paulgi) já deixaram de ser um projecto há muito tempo atrás. Aliás, tenho a impressão de que pertenceram a essa categoria apenas por um período curtíssimo. Paulgi teve uma ideia há anos e trabalhou-a até à exaustão, com um sacrifício impressionante que não vale a pena discutir aqui, pelo menos para já. Neste site apresentar-se-ão ao longo do ano alguns outtakes do trabalho, fotografias que não cabem já no espaço sempre muito restrito de um livro e de algumas exposições. Um exercício agora tem de ser feito: se estas imagens não entram definitivamente no projecto que se tornou resultado, o que virá aí?

The result of a work begins with a project. Nowadays we hear a lot about “projects”. “I’ve got a project, man! I think it will work!”. Besides the ceremonial of smiles and congratulations where we pretend to be happy for the person in question, we always retain a feeling that, whatever the so-called “project” is, it will forever remain in a limbo from where it will never leave in a complete form. Romeiros from Paulo Alegria (Paulgi) stopped being a project long time ago. Moreover, I’ve got the impression that they only belonged to that category for a very short term. Paulgi had one idea years ago and worked it until exhaustion, with an impressive sacrifice that won’t be discussed here, at least for now. This site will present, along the year, some of the work’s outtakes, photos that doesn’t fit in the scarce space of a book and some exhibitions. An exercise must be made now: if these images don’t fall definitely on the project that became result, what will come next?
